Eyes and Ice Cream

On our way to the eye doctor, and my Mason has lots of questions. He is nervous about this appointmment, and I try my best to calm his nerves. It doesn't help much. But, we get in the room and I show him all the different instruments that the doctor may use. I tell him that
It is not painful and he seems to be a little more calm. Carson is always a big help in these situations. He seems to be able to always have a calming effect and Mason adores him.

We wait, and wait, and wait and the boys are singing christmas songs. I am positively sure that they can be heard on the other side of the door, but I am hoping those that hear will enjoy it. These 2 boys are bored to tears and if singing will help pass the time, so be it. The doctor comes in, and checks Mason's eyes. He says that he will dilate his eyes and get a better understanding of why he was referred for this testing.  Needless to say, Mason is not a fan of the dialation of his eyes.  But, he does very well.  I promise an ice cream treat and he calms himself.  We have to wait 25 more minutes before the doctor can check his eyes again.  At this point, we have been in this office for 2 hours....complete torture for 2 boys and their moma after school. But we survive, and make our way to the yogurt shop. Mason tells me that he doesn't need to see the eye doctor ever again-"my eyes are just fine." :)
